What The Light Will Do For You
God’s word is a light. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105). The Apostle Paul wrote about this light that exposes error and reveals the truth. “But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.” (Ephesians 5:13) What does Paul tell the Ephesians this light of truth will do? What does the Bible say?
- Wakes You Up. “Therefore He says: ‘Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.’’ (Ephesians 5:14). Just as the sunrise announces it is time to get up and get to work, the Bible calls us to “wake up” and obey God.
- Shows Where To Walk. “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise …” (Ephesians 5:15). The light of scripture lights our way so we can walk in the awareness and wisdom of God’s truth.
- Gives An Opportunity. “…redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:16). The day only lasts for a while, then night comes. Work while there is light. Jesus pointed this out in John 9:4, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.”
- Allows You To Understand God’s Will. “Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” (Ephesians 5:17). We can know what God requires for us to do to be found pleasing to Him, when we use his word as the lamp to show us how to live.
We invite you to study with us to know the word of God. This word will lead us out of darkness and light the way that leads to eternal life.
